A crouton is just stale bread

Who created the first crouton? How did that happen? When you really think about it, a crouton is nothing more than bread gone bad. How did someone figure out that you could make bad bread into croutons? Did a piece of stale bread fall into their salad? Did they get tired of throwing out bread that wasn’t moldy, just hard?

What is the difference between the person who tosses bad bread out and the person who says, “Wait – I’m going to add some spice and sell this to people so they can have something crunchy and slightly unhealthy in their salads?”

Which person are you?

  1. Well were croutons invented before or after stuffing. If after then it came from stuffing. If before, well then someone had hard bread. Or maybe it was not about the hard bread at all, Maybe it was a mom who had a teething baby and needed something for their gums to kinda bite on that would not dislodge easy and they could choke. Interesting. Ok sorry, I digressed.

I am both actutally – but ya knew that already. Sometimes I am the person who has to find new ways to do things and new uses for things (we tend to break things or lose parts of things easily here at my house) so sometimes I am that inventive one but others I am just tossing it out and moving on. Situational.

Other times, I throw it back where it came from as it was useful and beneficial for me but yet then someone else needs it back.

I like this short post, it is a thinker.
